 My name is Sumaia

My name is Sumaia, but you can call me Sue as a nickname. I am originally from Yemen, but I've spent my entire life and career immersed in English. Not only did I pursue my Bachelor's Degree in English, but I've also completed my Master's Degree in the USA in the field of Education Technology. I have been working as a teacher and manager for about 7 years, including several years in Azerbaijan and Russia. I strongly believe that in order to learn a language efficiently, one must be immersed, like I have been, in the language, soaking it in through role-plays and life-like situations that we may encounter on an everyday basis. I have been keen a strong proponent of the independent and cooperative learning approach whereby students are guided along a clearly established line, leading them to achieve success through mentoring and learning from each other. When I am not working, I am a great fan of the arts and outdoor activities, so if you are riding your bicycle, look around, I might be around too.

 My name is Tom

My name is Tom Tabori and I was born in Hungary, though I've spent most of my life living in the USA and a wide range of rather exotic countries. In the field of education, I've worked myself up through the ladder over the years, starting out as a teacher at an American university, and progressing up to academic management staff. I've pursued employment in Yemen, China, Azerbaijan, Omsk, and of course Vladivostok, hoping to bring enthusiasm to learning by making it fun and engaging. I try to accomplish this in a wide variety of ways, but I am a strong believer that topic localization is the key to unlocking the desire for learning: the lessons must be related to the students' lives. In addition, I place quite a great emphasis on competition within the classroom, meaning that the activities I have the students do result in some sort of winner who then, subconsciously or fully aware, becomes an academic pull factor for the others. In my experience, these factors make students work hard towards attainable and tangible goals that can be accomplished within a frame of reference comfortable and convenient for them. When success does come for the students, it is easy to realize just how much I love my job: we share success and achievement because I was the enabler of their bright future and they put in all the necessary work to get to their milestones. But I am not all about work! I enjoy spending my free time actively, engaging in sports and outdoor activities. Furthermore, I am a big fan of the arts, especially the opera so I take any chance I get to visit the Philharmonic or the Mariinsky Theater. Needless to say, I am quite fond of traveling: I've visited over 30 countries by now, including some truly picturesque locations in Africa, Central Asia, and North America.

Bobby Rome.
